Michelle
Dobbs
My name is Michelle, I'm 32 years old. When I was 18 years old I found myself in quite a mess. You
see, I was mostly raised by my grandmother. My grandmother did the best she could, but I was extremely rebellious. I
ended up living with one relative after another. By the time I was 18 I had quit school, attempted suicide, became sexually
active, had a child and gave him up for adoption. I was also hooked on cocaine and crank, and was in and out of jail.
My last straw was a horrific
car accident. We were running from the police in a high-speed chase. When the car crashed, we were going over
110 mph. The driver was killed in the crash, yet my life was somehow miraculously spared. Soon after that, I found
Harvest Time Ministries. I wish I would have found this place when I was younger. It could have prevented
much pain in my life.
When I came into Harvest Time, my family
wasn't supportive of me coming into the ministry, and there was no one willing to pay for me to be here. I was a
lost cause, my life seemed hopeless. But, Thank God Mrs. Shawn didn't turn me down. She took me in with open
arms and a heart full of love.
This
is where I was taught the Word of God daily, and was also taught what a family life and home atmosphere was really like. I
was loved and cared for unconditionally- regardless of where I came from. I learned how to be a lady, a wife, a mother,
and a powerful woman of God. I thank God everyday for those who gave to Harvest Time when I was a girl there.
It is because of their faithfulness that I was able to get the help that I needed
that has helped me to become who I am today.
After I graduated the ministry program, I married
a youth pastor. We youth pastored and worked in our home church for nearly 4 years before God led us back to Harvest
Time, and we've been here for almost 9 years now. It's amazing to see God take these girls, some at
such a young age and transform their lives. I cherish the call that God has placed on my life and it's like I can
see myself in these girls as they come in, and I'm able to be an example of what God can do when you allow Him to work
through you.
